Brookstone Achieves Record DM Sales for 2003

Brookstone Inc. yesterday reported record annual direct marketing total sales of $75.7 million, a 15.3 percent increase over the amount posted in 2002.

The company also recorded a fiscal 2003 earnings increase of 46.3 percent, resulting in record net income of $17.6 million.

Other highlights from the 52-week period ended Jan. 31 include:

· Record total sales of $434.2 million, up 15.5 percent from 2002.

· A same-store sales increase of 11.2 percent, including a 12.6 percent increase in the holiday 2003 period.

In the fiscal fourth quarter ended Jan. 31, the Nashua, NH, company reported net income of $32.1 million, up 17.1 percent from the 2002 Q4. Same-store sales for the comparable period climbed 12.6 percent as total sales in the quarter rose 18.3 percent.
