Broadbase Launches BTB E-Commerce Tool

Broadbase Software is expected today to release E-Marketplace, an application designed to help business-to-business companies improve the e-commerce portions of their Web sites for buyers, sellers and market makers.

Broadbase is a provider of customer-focused analytic and marketing automation applications. To bolster services for its BTB clients, Broadbase is in the process of acquiring Decisionism, Boulder, CO, which creates BTB analytics. The acquisition will be completed in the fourth quarter.

E-Marketplace is the first product born out of the acquisition.

“It's a value-added, information-based service that marketplaces can offer as a way to create better stickiness or affinity for their marketplace,” said Bud Michael, senior vice president of BTB markets at Decisionism. “It makes for more efficient and effective transactions, which can make it a better marketplace than my competitors.”

This is accomplished through five E-Marketplace modules: the offer optimizer, participant scorecard, market liquidity analyzer, business performance monitor and industry trends.

The offer optimizer can help a seller best decide the pricing, timing, lot-size and volume parameters for the items it is trying to move. E-Marketplace accomplishes this by analyzing transaction history by product and current market activity. On the flip side, it helps buyers determine whether the offer is a good deal.

The participant scorecard provides information on buyers and sellers and compares it with others in the marketplace, helping companies to evaluate prospective partners.

The market liquidity provider helps monitor trading activity. The business performance monitor illustrates the overall marketplace, and the industry trends module summarizes product and transaction information for a historical view.

A first-time set-up fee is $200,000. Sites then pay a subscription fee based on the number of authorized users in a marketplace.

Broadbase Software Inc. is based in Menlo Park, CA.
