Broadbase Software Inc., Menlo Park, CA, purchased Servicesoft Inc. this week for $645 million to bolster its customer retention software, which serves dot-com and bricks-and-mortar companies.
The Broadbase software, coupled with Servicesoft, will now be called the Broadbase eService Software Suite.
Broadbase software analyzes customer information to pinpoint and retain profitable customers. Servicesoft, Natick, MA, offers Servicesoft 2001, which handles customer service on the Internet through self-help, e-mail inquiries and live chat capabilities.
With the Servicesoft acquisition, Broadbase adds relationships with EDS and Andersen Consulting as well as 350 Servicesoft employees for a total staff of about 700.
