Brann Worldwide Buys Wong Wong Boyack

Direct marketing shop Brann Worldwide, Wilton, CT, has bought Wong Wong Boyack, a San Francisco direct marketing and training agency that focuses on consumers of Asian origin in the United States.

The acquisition is designed to strengthen Brann's ethnic marketing services. Brann is part of France's Havas Advertising, the fifth-largest agency conglomerate worldwide. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The purchase follows new census data that show the U.S. Asian population is the fastest-growing ethnic group nationwide, up 74 percent in the past decade.

Established in 1991, Wong Wong Boyack, now Brann Wong Wong, is run by chairman and chief financial officer Ben Wong and his sister, Penelope Wong, who is president/CEO. Both will retain their titles and gain new ones. Ben Wong becomes executive vice president and director of strategic planning and insight at Brann San Francisco. Penelope Wong will be executive vice president and director of strategic business and brand development at the same office.

Brann Wong Wong clients include Cisco Systems, Chinese site Sina.com and American Savings Bank, Honolulu. Billings last year at the eight-person shop were $10 million.
