Brands tweeting at The Oscars: The Good, The Bad, and the Stupid

It’s no longer enough to watch the Oscars on TV, yesterday everyone was simultaneously following the commentary on Twitter, and of course that’s where the brands had to be too.

Here’s a roundup of tweets by brands on Oscar night, some good, some mediocre, and some just laughably stupid.

Pun times, from Lipton.

AT&T goes for the music angle.

Miller Lite takes advantage of a shoutout in Matthew McConaughey’s acceptance speech for Best Actor.

Denny’s did a cheeky parody of American Hustle, along with Ellen DeGeneres’ now famous selfie (which became the most retweeted tweet of all time, temporarily breaking Twitter)

Nobody wants to hear the word Mucus in an Oscar broadcast Mucinex. This is gross.

Snicker’s tried to jump in on Ellen DeGeneres’ pizza ordering for the stars:

Which of course meant that pizza brands were all over Twitter as well:

And the Oscar for dumbest tweet of the night goes to, Clorox:

No Clorox. This isn’t the way to celebrate The Wizard of Oz’s 75th anniversary.

No Clorox. That is not how we celebrate The Wizard of Oz’s 75th anniversary.
