You never know where your customers are going to come from. Sometimes they will come in response to a planned marketing strategy you initiate that could include an ad or a direct mail package. And sometimes they will show up as a result of a connection or series of connections you have made with other people.
My first client in business came as a result of planned and unplanned marketing activities. I started my consulting business a decade ago in a city where I had no contacts.
