Boardwalk Empire extends to direct marketing

HBO’s highly-publicized miniseries “Boardwalk Empire” is set to premier September 19th. Even a Martin Scorsese-produced event about prohibition-era gangsters isn’t without a direct marketing element. Harrah’s, one of the brands HBO has partnered with, along with Canadian Club whiskey and Bloomingdale’s, has been sending mail and e-mail to it’s in-house database of 40 million active players, according to Erin Chamberlin, Vice President of Marketing, Caesars and Bally’s Atlantic City.

Caesars will host the premier of the miniseries and has adorned its four properties in 1920s décor and is running a sweepstakes in which entrants can win a grand prize of a VIP suite at the hotel for a year.
