Bloomberg Names Bigley CMO

Business and financial news publisher Bloomberg LP has announced Deirdre Bigley as its new chief marketing officer.

Bigley succeeds Maureen McGuire and will report directly to Bloomberg LP’s CEO and president Dan Doctoroff.  She will oversee the entire marketing strategy for the company and its products, while McGuire will continue to serve part-time on diversity, leadership, and philanthropic special projects.

Bigley joined Bloomberg in 2009 as the head of global marketing communications. During this time she and McGuire launched the company’s first international marketing department.

Before Bloomberg, Bigley spent 13 years with IBM, where she served several senior positions, finishing her tenure as VP of worldwide advertising and interactive and VP of worldwide brand. Bigley started her career in agencies such as Oglivy & Mather Worldwide and other organizations in Boston, Dallas, and New Jersey. Bigley has served on both the Ad Council and Business Marketing Association board of directors.

“Maureen and I created Bloomberg’s corporate marketing business from the ground up, and I’m thrilled to build on that success,” Bigley said in a statement. “We have a world-class team in place and we are poised to see, seize and create new opportunities for Bloomberg’s business leaders with ideas and programs that drive difference in the marketplace.”
