Bigfoot Interactive Merges with Expression Engines

Bigfoot Interactive, a direct e-mail services firm, today announced the completion of a merger with Expression Engines, a provider of e-mail services and technology.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

A new holding company will be formed and the two New York-based companies will operate under the name Bigfoot Interactive, which will continue to be headquartered in New York. Al DiGuido, CEO of Expression Engines, will be CEO of the new company. Bigfoot Interactive’s co-founder and CEO, Jim Hoffman, will serve as chief strategy officer at the new company.

According to Kate Leahy, Bigfoot Interactive’s marketing manager, the new company will offer a full range of e-mail and other marketing services to publishing, media, retail, telecom, financial services and the pharmaceutical industries. The new company hopes to gain more clients among the Fortune 2000 companies.

“We’ll offer services for publishers that need to get content up on a Web site daily and want to be able to do it using a template,” Leahy said. “We also plan to target strategic business units within large corporations that may not need all the services the larger corporation needs.”

She said that the combination of Bigfoot Interactive and Expression Engines will enable the new company to offer a full range of customized messaging and marketing services. The combined Bigfoot Interactive plans to offer e-mail marketing tools through an Application Service Provider product or as a customized full-service solution.

Leahy said she did not know if there would be any layoffs as a result of the merger between the two privately held companies.
