Bigfoot Interactive Beefs Up IRMa E-Mail Platform

Bigfoot Interactive yesterday released an upgraded version of its Interactive Relationship Manager e-mail technology platform.

The new version, IRMa 4.0, results from the marriage of technologies from Bigfoot Interactive and Expression Engines. Bigfoot Interactive merged in March with Expression Engines, an e-mail services firm.

The company said IRMa 4.0 offers enhanced profiling, campaign and newsletter management and comprehensive reporting.

One of the most important new features of IRMa 4.0, according to Al DiGuido, Bigfoot Interactive's CEO, is its ability to distinguish between America Online's 5.0 and 6.0 software versions. The new platform can “sniff” which AOL version is available on a computer and can send e-mail in either rich text format to AOL 5.0 users or HTML format to AOL 6.0 users, he said.

“A lot of people have problems with that,” DiGuido said.

IRMa 4.0 also offers multi-language support, including Japanese and all Western European languages.

“Our mission going forward is to provide a messaging platform that can be deployed globally,” DiGuido said.

He said the upgraded platform also offers wireless messaging capabilities, advanced list management and segmentation, dynamic content assembly and auto-reply handling. About a dozen Bigfoot Interactive customers already are employing IRMa 4.0, DiGuido said.
