Big Apple Launches Site to Draw Tourists

Aimed at attracting holiday visitors to the city, New York’s City Hall has debuted a site that showcases a public service tourism campaign from advertising agency BBDO North America.

Created pro bono by Atmosphere Interactive, BBDO New York’s interactive arm, the site at www.nycmiracle.com features television commercials based on the “Miracle of New York” theme.

Downloadable, the commercials feature Kevin Bacon, Robert DeNiro, Barbara Walters, Woody Allen, Ben Stiller and other New York personalities. They are titled Skating, Audition, Deli and Pilgrim & Turkey.

The humorous spots — four for now, and six in all — end with New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani’s photo and the lines: “Everyone has a New York dream. Come find yours. The New York miracle. Be a part of it.”

“What this site provides is a one-stop destination where people can go to see the full breadth of the campaign and then take that a step further by offering the opportunity to take action,” said John Osborn, executive vice president and director of integrated marketing at BBDO North America, New York.

The site’s goal is to convey the message that New York is open for business and welcomes visitors. The site links to www.nycvisit.com, sponsored by NYC & Company of the Convention and Visitors Bureau. It also links to the Twin Towers Fund’s site.

Yahoo is supporting nycmiracle.com with media space in order to drive traffic.
