Bass Pro Shops to sell log cabins

Multichannel outdoor clothing and accessories merchant Bass Pro Shops has partnered with Barna Log Homes to offer a line of custom log cabins in its fall catalog.

The line will also be promoted at Bass Pro Shops’ fishing events this spring and summer.

With log homes representing one of the building industry’s fastest growing segments, according to the Log Home Council, Barna Log Homes and Bass Pro Shops are hoping to take advantage of their complementary product lines by appealing to their similar customer base.

Barna Log Homes, Oneida, TN, has designed the RedHead line of seven cabins for Bass Pro Shops, Springfield, MO, keeping in mind weekend adventurers seeking a cost-effective retreat for outdoor activities.

The cabins range in size from a 173-square-foot single room cabin to a 1,309-square-foot, three-bedroom and 2.5-bath cabin. Each is built with premium-graded, kiln-dried yellow and white pine log systems and has a red metal roof. Custom add-on features include a lean-to roof, deck systems and deck railings.

A Web site with details about the line is available at www.redheadlogcabins.com.

Prices start at $12,600 for the smallest cabin and top out at more than $64,250 for the largest one.

Orvis two years ago also started marketing log cabins to its customers via a partnership with Rocky Mountain Log Homes, although that deal is targeting a different segment of the market.

The starting price for one of the Orvis/Rocky Mountain log homes is $500,000. For $2 million, customers can purchase a 3,944-square-foot cabin decked out with a Sportsman’s Room, dog-care area, workbench for fly-tying and a natural rock hearth.
