Bank of America Rolls Out Wireless Credit Card Offer

Bank of America launched a credit card marketing campaign last week that enables consumers to sign up for the bank's credit cards via wireless devices.

The campaign was produced in conjunction with Douglas-Danielle, Chicago, an Internet direct marketing services company. The new offer enables consumers to complete and submit credit card applications via personal digital assistant devices or on their mobile phones.

The bank is using the technology of AvantGo Mobile Internet Service, a provider of free interactive and mobile content applications, to deliver the offers. A test run of call-to-action advertisements was launched via AvantGo on PDAs in the beginning of the month, and similar mobile phone advertisements will launch Nov. 24.

The company said it has received positive feedback from its test launch and plans to execute an official rollout in the first quarter of 2001. The company did not provide specifics on the test run results.
