Baan, a global provider of collaborative commerce solutions and a subsidiary of Invensys Software Systems, said Friday that it extended its relationship with IBM into a global strategic alliance.
According to the two companies, the agreement calls for them to integrate the entire iBaan suite of Internet-enabled solutions with IBM hardware platforms for the first time. This will provide global automotive and electronics organizations the ability to extend their business-to-business value chain throughout the enterprise, collaborating online and in real time with their customers and suppliers. IBM said it also plans to offer iBaan solutions as part of its outsourcing offerings.
Key features of the IBM/Invensys-Baan alliance include:
· Joint sales and marketing focused on the automotive and hi-tech/electronics industry.
· Bundled solutions that will enable midmarket users to run iBaan solutions in single, robust iSeries-based environment to offer lower total cost of ownership.
· An expansion of IBM's service practice around iBaan, including solutions for enterprise resource planning, customer relationship management, supply chain management, supplier relationship management, product life cycle management and manufacturing execution systems.
· IBM will host iBaan solutions in outsourcing engagements.
