ATG acquires InstantService for $17M

E-commerce firm ATG has acquired live chat software-as-a-service provider InstantService for $17 million in cash.

InstantService’s offerings and employees will be folded into the ATG portfolio.

“It made sense to acquire InstantService because the company has built a strong name for itself as a leading enterprise live chat solution, and gaining that reputation meant gaining an impressive market share,” said Nina McIntyre, SVP and CMO at ATG.

InstantService claimed 300 clients in a statement announcing the deal. They will join ATG’s 900 clients, which include Amazon.com, Best Buy and Macy’s.

In 2006, ATG acquired eStara, a provider of live help and lead tracking solutions. Two years later, the company bought CleverSet, an automated product recommendations company.

McIntyre added that InstantService’s InstantMobile service “reflects the growing demand for multidevice, multichannel communication between companies and their customers.”
