ATA show offers education for future

ORLANDO, FL – More than 600 people attended the 2006 American Teleservices Association Convention & Expo at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort here. The theme was “Maximizing the Ideal Customer Experience.”

The Oct. 8-11 event began with the annual golf tournament led by Bob Kobek, CEO of Mobius Vendor Partners, and moved quickly into an evening reception.

The next morning, Lisa DeFalco, chair of the ATA board, summarized the strategic direction of the association, followed by keynotes and four tracks of education, international sessions and compliance and industry updates.

“Adding this type of educational value to our membership and to this year’s attendees gives us the momentum needed for us to move into our future and face our next set of challenges,” said Tim Searcy, CEO of the ATA, Indianapolis.

The educational tracks included compliance and regulations, technology, international/off-shoring and outsourcing, and contact center management.

The international buzz was certainly on the exhibit floor and within the off-shoring track. Countries like the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, the Philippines and Canada were very professionally represented and active at this event.

The ATA has proved to be a place where delegates from these countries meet, benchmark and calibrate their offshore offerings.

An evening at Disney World’s Epcot Center was the perfect setting for the international attendees to come together as a global front with the top outsourcing firms and Fortune 500 firms of the United States.

The final evening was devoted to awards like Best Chapters, Best in Show/Exhibits, the ATA’s Fulcrum award and the Technovation awards.
