Precision Response Corp. struck a deal yesterday with the U.S. Army to provide customer support services to soldier-students as part of the Army’s online university.
The Fort Lauderdale, FL-based company will operate the Army’s help desk under the contract. Online soldier-students — who could number approximately 80,000 by the fifth year of the online university program, according to the Army — will have access to 24-hour customer and technical support.
Precision’s customer services will be used by the Army as part of the online learning system provided by PricewaterhouseCoopers, which the Army selected in December for the online university. Precision employs about 12,000 customer service workers and provides both online and call center support.
“Customer service is a huge part of any university,” said Alicia Miyares, vice president of marketing at Precision. “And particularly online, you’re always going to need help desk support.”
Miyares said 15 customer service workers will be assigned to the Army account.
