AOL and PBS Pen Online, On Air Deal

America Online Inc., Dulles, VA, announced this week a three-year agreement with the Public Broadcasting Service, Alexandria, VA, that will partner the companies in a deal for each to tap the other's formidable audience.

PBS will increase its visibility with the agreement by becoming a content partner with AOL services, which includes AOL.COM, CompuServe and Netscape Netcenter. PBS stations will also receive undisclosed promotions from the mentioned AOL brands.

In turn, AOL's 20 million members will receive direct access to PBS' educational and interactive online programming. PBS will also create an age-appropriate program exclusively for the AOL Kids Only Channel. Financial terms were not disclosed.
