And now Instagram has video ads, here’s what they look like

It’s been a big week for social media advertising as Tumblr, Snapchat and Instagram all launch video ads within a few days of each other.

Much like the others, Instagram is also initially running video ads from a select number of preferred brands, including Disney, The CW Network, Activision, Banana Republic and Lancome. The ads show up in your Instagram feed and have to be clicked on to play. In terms of analytics and targeting, Instagram offers the basics, including targeting by age, gender and country.

Instagram’s commercial team has taken great pains to ensure the ads look and feel native to the platform. In fact, Banana Republic chose its first ad to be a behind-the-scenes video of the company using Instagram’s own hyper-lapse tool. Here’s what it looks like (via AdWeek)
