Amtrak is taking a train full of social media influencers all the way to SXSW

Trains might be old-school, but Amtrak wants to show you its still a preferred choice for techies going to SXSW.

Amtrak’s latest social media marketing program has nearly 30 tech personalities tweeting about travelling on its Texas Eagle train from Los Angeles to Austin for South by Southwest. This includes BJ Mendelson, author and viral marketer; Benni Leigh, Head of Lifestyle at Makers Studio; and Sarah Austin of Pop17.

The goal is to get these social media stars to tweet pictures of their journey in real-time to the hashtag AmtrakLIVE on Twitter and Instagram.

“AmtrakLIVE will have amazing scenery, engaging collaboration and the opportunity to explore and be inspired – it’s all part of the Amtrak long-distance experience,” said Amtrak director of social media Julia Quinn in a press release. “Amtrak provides customers a one-of-a-kind experience, making train travel the perfect choice for like-minded comm unities to explore the country together. AmtrakLIVE is all about creativity.”
