AMS Forms Strategic Alliance With SAS Institute

American Management Systems (AMS), Fairfax, VA, an international business and information technology consulting firm, last week signed a strategic alliance agreement with SAS Institute, Cary, NC.

AMS and SAS Institute will collaborate on providing technology-based customer data-analysis solutions for their clients across several industries in the United States and globally. The collaboration will focus on the use of data warehousing, data mining and decision-support software to let businesses establish the operational environments required to better manage their customer relationships.

Initially, AMS and SAS Institute will focus on integrating AMS' Strata Enterprise software product — which helps customers execute and track complex customer management strategies — with SAS Enterprise Miner, a data-mining tool. Most of the strategies that clients have deployed with Strata rely in part on analytical models created using SAS software. The companies hope the integration will offer customers a seamless solution.

“SAS software provides the platform that we need to design and implement the technology-based customer-management systems demanded by our clients,” said Steve Mutschler, vice president in charge of AMS' Customer Strategy Consulting practice. “Both firms have strong credentials helping companies re-orient their businesses to emphasize customer relationship management.”
