AmEx campaign explains loyalty service changes

American Express is launching a new campaign for its new Delta SkyMiles Credit Cards to educate loyalty members about changes in service.?

Delta merged with Northwest Airlines last fall. Since then, Delta chose American Express as the exclusive provider of the co-branded credit card for its SkyMiles loyalty program. The campaign aims to reinforce the fact that the Delta SkyMiles Card is the official card of Delta’s SkyMiles program within the US. While their existing miles will still be honored, WorldPerks members who wish to continue to combine miles earned from flying with miles earned on co-branded card purchases will need to switch to a Delta SkyMiles Credit Card.?

“WorldPerks members and credit card holders are very valuable customers, and we plan to treat them accordingly,” said David Rabkin, VP, Delta Cobrands, American Express, in a statement. ?

The new campaign will run in key US Delta hubs that were formerly Northwest hubs, including Detroit, Minneapolis/St. Paul and Memphis, through the end of 2009. It includes print, TV, radio and online ads. ?

Among the new benefits, card members can earn double miles on all Delta- and Northwest-operated flights. Members also can redeem any seat any time on all Delta- and Northwest-operated flights with no blackout dates or inventory restrictions.
