Amerix Taps DraftWorldwide New York for Acquisition Efforts

Amerix Corp., a provider of debt management services, has named DraftWorldwide New York as its agency of record on an account of undisclosed size.

Three agencies, whose names were not revealed, competed for the business. DraftWorldwide will initially handle direct response television creative, strategy, and media buying and planning.

“This is acquisition primarily, [Amerix want] to acquire more customers for the debt consolidation business, and DRTV has been their main source of acquisition,” said Wendy Lurrie, executive vice president of business development at DraftWorldwide New York.

The television creative will feature a telephone number and a Web address.

Based in Columbia, MD, the 5-year-old Amerix claims to be the leading provider of debt management programs to nonprofit credit counseling agencies nationwide.

Last year, Amerix serviced more than $4 billion in debt for more than 250,000 accounts. The company offers support for account origination, electronic payment setup and processing, statement generation, creditor representation, document processing and customer support.

Headquartered in Chicago, DraftWorldwide is part of New York-based Interpublic Group of Cos. Inc. The agency reported worldwide billings of $3.6 billion last year, servicing accounts like Kellogg Co., American Express Co., Burger King Corp. and Compaq Computer Corp.
