American Express offers card members deals on Seamless

American Express has partnered with Seamless, an e-commerce provider for restaurants, to offer discounts to members of American Express’ Blue Savings Program, both companies said Dec. 8.

The partnership rewards American Express card members with a $10 statement credit for every four orders of $15 or more placed through Seamless using an American Express card. Consumers are limited to $120 in statement credits through Oct. 31, 2012, after which the accrued credits will refresh.

To receive discounts through purchases on Seamless, consumers must opt in to the Blue Savings program, which launched in March 2010 and rewards members for making purchases with their connected card. All consumers who have a “Blue from American Express”, “Blue Cash”, “Blue Cash Everyday”, “Blue Cash Preferred”, “Blue Sky” or “Blue Sky Preferred” credit card can join the program.

Leah Gerstner, VP of public affairs at American Express, said the company chose to develop the program as a way of “adding value to our cards.” Seamless CEO Jonathan Zabusky said the initiative will help to expand the company’s reach. The partnership has no end date, Gerstner said.

American Express is not sharing card member data with Seamless nor its restaurant partners, Gerstner said. Zabusky said that restaurants will not be able to target offers to American Express card members.

Seamless enables consumers to place food delivery orders via its website and mobile apps. Zabusky said Seamless plans to roll out an iPad app in early 2012.
