Amazon.com Gets Domestic With Wedding Registry

Expanding yet again, Amazon.com Inc. on St. Valentine's Day launched a wedding registry.

The latest addition augments the wish list and baby registry service in partnership with Babiesrus.com. More than 6 million wish lists and baby registries have been created on the Seattle retailer's site.

Through www.amazon.com/wedding, engaged couples can create a single registry for a range of kitchenware, tools, electronics and other items. This includes digital camcorders, DVD players, books, music and even cordless drills.

Services offered by the wedding registry include checklists, buying guides, top registry requests and wedding planning resources. Couples can personalize the registry with images of themselves.

Couples also can track in real time what items have been bought and which still remain in the registry.

To encourage registration, couples who register before March 15 are automatically entered in a sweepstakes to win 14 high-end kitchen appliances from KitchenAid.
