Mobile service provider Alltel Wireless and broadband entertainment firm Atom Entertainment Inc. are challenging consumers to submit films shot on cell phones.
The “Are You Circle Worthy” contest is aimed at promoting the launch of Little Rock, AR-based Alltel’s new “My Circle” calling feature, an in-network service for friends and family.
This is the first time the two firms have held a contest for videos shot on cell phones.
Consumers are invited to use their camera phones to make short films starring friends and family. The films are then submitted on the San Francisco-based AtomFilms’ Web site at www.atomfilms.com from June 15 through July 10 midnight PST.
The entries will be judged based on the best interpretation of the “Are You Circle Worthy” theme, artistic technique and production quality. All 10 finalists will win $1,000 and have their films posted on AtomFilms.
Consumers will be able to vote Aug. 15-28 for their favorite. The grand-prize winner gets $5,000 after the results are announced Sept. 19.
The “My Circle” calling feature allows subscribers to receive free unlimited calls from their circle of friends and family. The circle can include those on landlines or other wireless numbers, regardless of the carrier.
