Allserve Takes on $112M Outbound Contract

British teleservices and business-process provider Allserve Systems yesterday announced it had won a $112 million contract to provide offshore-based outbound telemarketing for Energy Helpline Limited UK.

Allserve will conduct the campaigns from its call centers in Bangalore and Delhi, India, targeting consumers in the United Kingdom. Energy Helpline serves customers in the UK with a Web site that lets them compare prices and select a gas or electric provider.

Allserve and Energy Helpline are working together to launch the outbound operations and are recruiting with a goal of creating a 500-member team in three months. The new jobs will be divided between the Bangalore and Delhi facilities. Prior to the announcement of the contract, the two companies ran a pilot program at Allserve's call center facility in Chennai, India.

Allserve, Ascot, England, has operations in India, the United States and United Kingdom. In July, it agreed to take on U.S. teleservices agency Aegis as a subsidiary but sued in November after Aegis backed out of the deal. In early December, Allserve announced it would increase its work force in India from 3,000 to 6,000 during the next two to three quarters.
