Alliance Tries 'One-Stop Shop'

The First National Bank of Maryland, Baltimore, and Merkle Direct Marketing, Lanham, MD, announced a partnership that will allow them to provide nonprofit groups with a “one-stop shop” for collection services and database management.

Through the alliance, Merkle will take care of list research, list maintenance, data mining, analysis, mailing, data entry, caging and fulfillment services. First National will handle the collection of money and subsequently invest the donations for the organizations.

“This partnership gives our customers an efficient and cost-effective method to expedite the availability of funds while updating membership of donor databases,” said Janet Farrell, head of First National's not-for-profit banking division.

“The combined services offered by Merkle and First National complement each other perfectly,” said David Williams, president/CEO of Merkle Direct Marketing. “It's truly a win-win situation.”

Farrell also said the focus of the service will be for nonprofits but it eventually will be available to other organizations, including advertising agencies, publishers and other large volume commercial operations.
