Airborne Debuts Corporate Exchange

Airborne Express yesterday introduced Corporate Exchange, a Web-based desktop shipping application for corporate customers.

Corporate Exchange users can ship packages to any destination in the United States and send e-mail notifications to recipients; print bills; track, view, edit and void shipments; and print or download shipping reports.

“Corporate Exchange is unique from Airborne's other Web-based shipping products because it lets the customer control employee access to the system,” said Joy Williams, Airborne's director of customer technology. “Our customers who beta-tested the application found it very quick and easy to use. With Corporate Exchange, customers can more easily manage their shipping activities, enhance their control over shipping costs and simplify their daily work processes.”

Employee users are assigned to a customer administrator within their companies who sets permissions and restrictions through an employee's account number. The customer administrator can decide what service types to allow, define reference field requirements and decide which employees are allowed to ship.

Seattle-based Airborne collaborated with Lante Corp., Chicago, an Internet consulting company, to make the product available to its customers. In collaboration with Lante, Airborne is working on enhancements to Corporate Exchange, and in the future Airborne will add international shipping and its Ground Delivery Service capabilities.
