AIM Rebrands, Changes Name

The Association for Interactive Media, the interactive subsidiary of the Direct Marketing Association, is expected to announce today that it has changed its name to the Association for Interactive Marketing.

It also is rebranding its Web site from InteractiveHQ.org to Imarketing.org. The association has no affiliation with iMarketing News.

AIM has owned the Imarketing.org domain name since 1997, according to Ben Isaacson, AIM's executive director. He said its current InteractiveHQ.org domain was chosen in 1996 to reflect the association's interactive television, entertainment, media and content focus.

“We're trying to better align ourselves with the traditional marketing industry — people who are still getting into the Internet, still trying to figure out how the Internet works –and more closely align ourselves with the DMA,” Isaacson said.

“Most people already consider us the Association for Interactive Marketing.”

The group was originally founded in 1993 as the Interactive Television Association. It became the Association for Interactive Media in 1996.

The DMA acquired AIM in the fall of 1998.
