AHA Program Seeks to Reduce Health Risks

The American Heart Association, Dallas, launched a health management program last week that aims to help people reduce the risk of heart attacks and strokes via Internet-based communication tools.

The program, One of a Kind, hopes to offer Internet users online tools such as targeted e-mail, tailored Web sites and Web magazines.

MicroMass, Cary, NC, developed the program — www.onelife.americanheart.org — and will manage the technological end of the process.

“The techniques behind tailoring and personalization are really going to help market this,” said Bill Dukes, chief creative officer at MicroMass. “It's much easier to navigate once you're in the site.”

Representatives from the American Heart Association were not available for comment.
