Missouri Attorney General Jay Nixon is supporting a bill that would let residents place cell phone and business numbers on the state's no-call list.
Currently, the Missouri no-call list can contain only residential landline numbers. The list includes 3 million Missouri consumers and is maintained separately from the national no-call list.
State Sen. Steve Stoll introduced the bill. In the state House, a companion version has the support of state Reps. David Pearce and D.J. Davis.
Missouri's no-call law took effect in July 2001. The state has collected more than $1 million in fines for no-call violations.
