Abercrombie & Fitch Co. begins using Newgistics Inc.'s SmartLabel return service this month, Newgistics said this week.
The company will use SmartLabel for returns purchased through its Abercrombie & Fitch brand, targeting ages 18 through college; Abercrombie Kids, targeting ages 7-14; and Hollister Co. targeting ages 14-18.
SmartLabel lets customers return merchandise bought online or through catalogs by detaching a prepaid, pre-addressed, barcoded SmartLabel from their order summary, affixing it to their package and sending it through the U.S. Postal Service.
SmartLabel's barcode links the package to the customer's invoice and provides package visibility early in the returns process.
The company operates e-commerce sites at www.abercrombie.com, www.hollisterco and www.abercrombiekids.com. It also publishes the A&F Quarterly magalog.
Newgistics said SmartLabel gives merchants earlier warning of returns, which leads to increased productivity and faster crediting of returns to the customer's account.
