Adults Use Alternative Means to Reach Web

Research services provider, IntelliQuest Research, Austin, TX, released a study this week that showed that as more adults are beginning to use the Web, they are doing so through alternative methods.

Online shopping and purchasing has increased, the study revealed, with 56 million people shopping online in the last three months. The study showed that more than 83 million adults are accessing the Internet, which is up from 66 million during the same quarter last year. Of those users, 3.7 million said they used handheld computers to access the Web, while 3.1 million said they used a television set-top box or WebTV. According to IntelliQuest, online users are spending more time online at 12.1 hours this year compared to 10.9 hours they spent last year.
