Acxiom names Suther CMO, replacing Darviche

Interactive marketing firm Acxiom has appointed Tim Suther its CMO. Suther replaced Michael Darviche, who left the company to pursue other endeavors, according to Ines Rodriguez-Gutzmer, senior marketing communications and PR consultant for Acxiom.

Suther previously served as SVP of Acxiom’s global multichannel marketing services business. As CMO, he will be responsible for the company’s global product marketing, marketing communications, sales support, strategy and business development activities.

“Darviche has been instrumental in developing the company strategy over the past year and a half, and we are thankful for his leadership and contributions,” Rodriguez-Gutzmer said in an e-mailed statement. “Suther’s strengths and first-hand experience with clients and in the digital space are vital for leading the implementation of that strategy to position Acxiom for FY 2011 and beyond.”

The company did not consider outside candidates for the position and no staff restructuring has occurred as a result of Suther’s July 1 promotion, Rodriguez-Gutzmer said.

Darviche did not return a message left on his mobile phone by press time. He served as CMO beginning in February 2009. Previously, he was the cofounder and general manager of Bigfoot Interactive, an e-marketing service provider.
