Acxiom Makes Investment in Ceres

Acxiom Corp. last week made a 25 percent equity investment in Ceres Integrated Solutions, a provider of intelligent operational software and analytical services.

Together, Axciom, Conway, AR, and Ceres, Raleigh, NC, will offer an integrated marketing data solution called Solvitur for Retail.

Terms of the investment were not disclosed.

“Acxiom and Ceres will provide the retail industry with a best-of-breed, closed-loop market management solution,” said Charles Morgan, company leader at Acxiom, in a prepared statement. “The Acxiom core competencies combined with the Ceres differentiators should set us apart from our competitors.”

Solvitur will let retailers combine on a single desktop details about their customers with information about merchandise, so that the merchandise solution complements the marketing solution.

“The solution encompasses the core competencies of Acxiom — known for its ability to design, implement and manage large-scale database warehouse/marts and provide clean, validated, quality data, based on expertise in data integration, standardization, data hygiene and validity,” said Charles Weir, business development leader at Acxiom.

Acxiom is expected to announce today that its Acxiom Data Network (ADN) desktop data-delivery product is available for a general evaluation release. This release — offered free to a select group of businesses through July 31 — follows testing of ADN, which was introduced in February. These users will receive online data access to Acxiom's database software.

These customers, potential customers and channel partners will be the first to use Acxiom's InfoBase Consumer Enhancement packages, which allow the analysis, profiling and segmentation of data for targeted marketing decisions.

A full general release of ADN is slated for August.
