Acxiom Digital taps Message Systems for e-mail

Digital marketing firm Acxiom Digital has selected e-mail services firm Message Systems for its e-mail delivery system.

With the new partnership, Acxiom Digital will have access to third-party e-mail reputation partners, such as GoodMail, as well as authentication protocols including Domain Keys and Domain Keys Identified Mail (DKIM).

“Strong authentication mechanisms like DKIM give our clients a way to establish trust with their customers and differentiate their legitimate marketing messages from the sea of spam,” Mitchell Gibbs, director of technical support and deliverability at Acxiom Digital. “If message receivers can’t be certain you are who you say you are, then it doesn’t matter how good your reputation is – the receiver can’t trust you. DKIM provides an infrastructure for trust and reputation.”

DKIM, which is an open-source standard, uses a cryptographic signature that can be decrypted by a receiving Internet Service Provider, letting the ISP verify the sender of an e-mail and then make a determination of whether that sender is trustworthy. Authentication has become a standard best practice endorsed the EEC and DMA for e-mail. DKIM and Sender ID are the most common forms of authenticating e-mail.

The DKIM fingerprint that is placed in each message also lets receiving ISPs verify that the message has not been tampered with due to phishing scams or e-mail fraud.

Acxiom Digital powers the marketing e-mails for clients including the Gap, Hewlett Packard, Marriott and Dell.
