ABC, AOL Join Forces for State of Union

Aiming to get viewers more involved in tonight's State of the Union address, ABC and AOL are teaming up to urge people to contribute comments online and on TV.

AOLNews.com is running “The People's State of the Union,” an interactive news campaign that features a live ABC News blogger who will provide a “truth squad analysis,” listing points that President Bush makes as “true” or “false.”

Viewers are urged to submit their text and video comments via cell phone or online on their reaction during the State of Union and the Democratic response. Selected comments will air on ABC News television programs, ABCNews.com and AOLNews.com.

“Working with ABC News, we are creating an electronic town square, where Web users can offer real-time feedback on the president's speech and offer their own views on the State of the Union,” Lewis D'Vorkin, vice president and editor in chief of AOL News and Sports, said in a statement
