AAF Cites Small Shop Privacy Guidelines

The American Advertising Federation this week released its consumer protection initiative, which details written privacy development guidelines and options for online shopping Web sites, small advertising and communications companies, travel agencies and consumer product firms.

The campaign, which was endorsed by the Online Privacy Alliance and the Federal Trade Commission, was launched as a means of encouraging more small marketing and advertising businesses in developing and posting an online privacy policy.

AAF also is distributing a series of streamlined mix-and-match privacy policies to its 42,000 small business members through 207 local advertising clubs and federations.

“With this program, we've done the hard work for them, and we hope this will increase small business compliance,” said AAF president/CEO Wally Snyder.

The Online Privacy Alliance is made up of the AAF and more than 60 global corporations and associations.
