What has been your proudest career accomplishment to date?
While I love the idea of showing our youngest family members the possibilities that could be in store for them through Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day, this special holiday can leave a lot of kids out, including the children whose family members work in facilities management jobs that might happen off-hours, in restricted access spaces, or in active factory environments. I’m proud of my team for rethinking how we celebrate the day by launching an art contest inviting all children with family members who work for our company to draw what they think their parents do at work. The program promoted conversations about the valuable work that happens — often behind the scenes — to keep spaces safe, clean, efficient and productive, and the resulting content was absolutely adorable.
What’s the best piece of advice you can give to future 40 under 40 honorees?
On days when we aren’t in face-to-face meetings, at live events, or collaborating with our team in front of a white board, much of our work in marketing can be done from anywhere. For the past two summers, I spent some of my time working from an old cottage on an island in Maine where the drastic change of pace from my urban life in San Francisco gives me broader perspectives, and the connection to nature and the ocean renews my creativity. I cannot recommend this enough.
What do you hope to accomplish in the next 5 years?
I believe in investing in my team, and helping grow the people I work with together with the brand. So when I think about accomplishments in the next 5 years, many of those are successes I want to see for other people, not just for me.
What is one interesting fact about you that few people know?
I ride my bike to work — in heels — almost every day.
