40 Under 40 2016: Steve Froehlich, ALSAC/St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

Froehlich is responsible for all aspects of direct response marketing to donors who give through television, mail, radio, and digital marketing programs. His responsibility also includes maintaining and upgrading donors through retention programs designed to maximize a donor’s potential for the hospital.

What has been your proudest career accomplishment to date?

Helping lead three of the nonprofit industry’s largest monthly programs at Greenpeace, the ASPCA, and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

What’s the best piece of advice you can give to future 40 Under 40 honorees?

Don’t believe when people try to tell you that direct mail is dead.

What do you hope to accomplish in the next five years?

I’d like to run the St. Jude Memphis Marathon, but I admit that would require me to get out of the office and away from my desk long enough to at least run a 5K first.

What is one interesting fact about you that few people know?

I had the opportunity to travel to 12 countries in Europe while spending my junior year of high school as a foreign exchange student in Pilsen, Czech Republic.
