Ad network 24/7 Media Inc., New York, said yesterday that it is offering its clients the ability to target ads geographically.
Through an agreement with Digital Envoy Inc., Atlanta, a company that provides anonymous targeting services, 24/7 Media can now offer its clients the ability to target ads by country, state or city. The company is using Digital Envoy's NetAcuity technology to provide this functionality to its clients.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
24/7 Media will use the NetAcuity technology to target ads geographically on top of its existing profile-based ad serving capabilities. The technology also enables the company to target ads on an Internet service provider level.
“This agreement with Digital Envoy gives us a competitive advantage in the industry by allowing us to globally target users by country, region and city in a highly reliable manner,” said Vivienne Dacey, 24/7 Media's senior vice president and general manager of its Connect division.
She added that Digital Envoy's technology enables the company to provide region-specific advertising without collecting personal information, such as a user's street address or telephone number.
