Zornosa Leaving Topica For Knight Ridder Digital

Anna Zornosa is leaving her position as CEO of e-mail services provider Topica Inc. to become chief marketing officer at Knight Ridder Digital, it was announced yesterday.

Carter Hostelley, formerly senior vice president of finance and administration at Topica, has been promoted to take her place, the San Francisco company said. Hostelley's appointment is effective immediately.

Prior to Topica, Hostelley was vice president of international development at SmartAge, an Internet startup launched in 1998, which also was headed by Zornosa.

Zornosa has a long history with digital marketing and publishing. During the dot-com boom, she worked with one-time Internet darling and eventual flop PointCast Inc., an advertising-supported company that sent news to users' desktops. Previously, she held positions at CMP Publications and Ziff Davis Magazine Networks.

She will direct Knight Ridder Digital's business and product strategy, drive national marketing and communications and oversee audience metrics and analysis, the company said in a statement.
