Y&R's Burson Marstellar Acquires Grassroots Education Firm

Public relations and communications consulting firm, Burson-Marsteller, New York, a Young & Rubicam company, announced last week that it was acquiring The Direct Impact Co., Alexandria, VA, a grassroots education and mobilization firm.


The company, which is the largest of its kind, serves many Fortune 500 clients and trade associations in developing community support for issue and marketing related campaigns. Burson-Marstellar first entered into a strategic alliance with Direct Impact called Burson Direct in 1997.


John D. Brady, cofounder of Direct Impact will remain chairman/CEO. Thomas M. Herrity, also a cofounder, will continue to serve as president.
