Yale Dropped From Metallica Lawsuit
Yale University has been dropped as a defendant in a lawsuit filed by heavy metal rock band Metallica, according to news reports yesterday. The move comes after Yale agreed to block access from its computer network to Napster.com, a Web site offering software that allows people to trade copyrighted music. Metallica alleged that Yale, the University of Southern California and Indiana University allowed free trade of copyrighted songs to flourish by failing to block access to the Napster site.
