Yahoo Updates Photo Sharing Site

Latching on to the popularity of social networking sites and photo sharing, Yahoo is hoping its upgraded beta Yahoo Photos site will get consumers more involved across its network.

Yahoo Photos, in beta since 2000, was upgraded late last week, adding drag-and-drop photo organization like a desktop application, the ability to comment on and rate photos, and more searching and sharing features.

The new community-based features will lead to greater user interaction, according to Yahoo. Also, the Photos site is now integrated across Yahoo's network, including Yahoo Mail, Messenger, Mobile and 360.

The Yahoo Photos site will include advertising in "non-obtrusive" locations such as the Welcome page, according to a Yahoo.
