*Yahoo Strikes Deal With Barnesandnoble.com

Yahoo has ended its partnership with Amazon.com and instead will form a larger agreement with Amazon rival barnesandnoble.com, according to reports.

Barnesandnoble.com, whose shares leaped almost 31 percent hours after the announcement, said yesterday it will become Yahoo's suggested book vendor and will have premium placement on several Yahoo pages, including Yahoo Shopping. The two companies will team on direct marketing efforts and promotions.

In addition, Barnes & Noble stores will begin offering a CD-ROM containing free Internet access. The disc will direct customers to a co-branded Web site.

Yahoo's arrangement with Amazon expired Monday. Amazon said in reports that it chose not to renew the deal in favor of a previous arrangement with America Online.
