Yahoo Search Subscriptions Adds LexisNexis

Yahoo Search Subscriptions, a beta program letting users search online subscription content and the Web, added LexisNexis' AlaCarte service yesterday.


When Search Subscriptions users select LexisNexis, they can view headlines powered by LexisNexis AlaCarte, a pay-as-you-go online information solution for small to midsize businesses. Users have the option to access full-text articles via credit card transactions.


In mid-June, Yahoo, Sunnyvale, CA, launched its Search Subscriptions service, which lets users search their subscription content, such as for-pay news and reference Web sites, along with personal subscription content found on the "deep Web," in one place. The deep Web includes millions of access-restricted sites containing content that search engines usually cannot access, according to Yahoo.


"Now, users can find information from some of the largest, most popular consumer, research and business publishers through a single, integrated search experience through Yahoo Search," according to a Yahoo statement.


LexisNexis joins ConsumerReports.org, Wall Street Journal Online, Financial Times and other participating companies that require fees or registration for their content on Yahoo Search Subscriptions.
