Yahoo appoints two new seats to board

Yahoo has appointed Frank Biondi and John Chapple to its board of directors.

Biondi and Chapple are filling two new seats formed last month when, in order to avoid a proxy fight, Yahoo agreed to appoint activist investor Carl Icahn and two new members to its board. The settlement increased the size of Yahoo's board from nine members to 11.

Biondi has been senior managing director of WaterView Advisors LLC, a private equity limited partnership, since 1999. Before that, he was chairman and CEO of Universal Studios. He has also served as president and CEO of Viacom Inc.

Chapple has been president of Hawkeye Investments LLC, a privately owned equity firm, for two years. He is a former president, CEO and chairman of the board of Nextel Partners, prior to its acquisition by Sprint Communications. He has also served as president and COO for Orca Bay Sports and Entertainment in Vancouver, BC, as well as EVP of operations for McCaw Cellular Communications and, subsequently, AT&T Wireless Services, after the two companies merged.
