WWF Tags Exactis for E-Mail Newsletters

The World Wrestling Federation and Exactis.com said this week that they will enter the ring together in a partnership that would make Exactis.com the e-mail fulfillment house for the WWF's weekly and monthly newsletters.

The Stamford, CT-based wrestling organization launched its weekly e-mail newsletter, "WWF Full Body Press," in late 1998, but as subscribers grew from 300,000 to nearly 720,000, it could no longer manage distribution. It also launched a monthly e-mail newsletter in October called "The People's Newsletter," which has grown from 20,000 subscribers to 60,500.

According to Tory Pearson, public relations coordinator at Exactis.com, Denver, the WWF plans to target the database of subscribers it's compiling with future marketing campaigns.

"This is going to allow them to do a lot of highly targeted e-mail campaigns to their subscribers," Pearson said. "They will know who likes what particular wrestler and then market specific products to them."
